Sea Sensors was an acoustic data initiative that collects and analyzes underwater blast data to generate quantitative, spatial evidence on the incidence of destructive fishing practices over time. The data supports targeted enforcement efforts and informed decision-making for marine conservation. Nukta Africa participated in the project as a media and data partner, contributing to data-driven journalism and investigative reporting. The organization translated complex acoustic and environmental data into accessible public-interest stories to raise awareness, support accountability, and strengthen marine conservation efforts.
Impact: The project provided credible, data-backed evidence, supporting advocacy, enforcement, and long-term protection of marine ecosystems.
