Nuzulack Dausen

CEO 

Nuzulack Dausen is the CEO of Nukta Africa, digital media and technology company that specialises in research and training of emerging journalism and communication practices including data journalism, fact-checking, and multimedia storytelling.

He is an active multi-award winning Tanzanian journalist specialising in business, data and technology reporting where his byline appears on Nukta Habari, Jiko Point and Reuters.

For over 12 years, he has covered both local and international assignments including the US Elections in 2016 and held various newsroom leadership positions such as Head of Data at Mwananchi Communications Ltd. 

He is a pioneer of Data Journalism and Fact-checking in Tanzania and has trained and mentored over 1,000 journalists, editors, members of CSOs and journalism students on the practices.

Before joining Nukta Africa, he previously worked with local and international media, mining and risk management organisations including Mwananchi Communication Ltd, Code for Africa and Assaye Risk.

Daniel Mwingira

Special Assignments Manager

Mr Mwingira is Special Assignment Manager where among other things he manages partnerships and business development activities at Nukta Africa.

With over 10 years of experience in journalism, Daniel has previously worked at Mwananchi Communications Limited on several editorial projects including Tanzania at 50 in 2011 and Constitutional Reform process in 2012.

He has been training journalists and editors on Data Journalism, Fact-checking and Multimedia storytelling.

Before joining Nukta Africa in 2018, Mr Mwingira worked at Uhuru Publication Limited as a Digital Consultant.

 

Maphosa Banduka

Chief Operations Officer

Maphosa Banduka is the Chief Operations Officer at Nukta Africa who manages the company’s operations including finance and administrative duties. Before her current role, she was Chief Finance & Administration Officer. 

A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with Business from Mzumbe University, Maphosa loves to work and share skills with journalists and communication professionals on how they can use technology and data to increase efficiency in news content production and financial sustainability.

She previously worked as a System Analyst in various local companies in Tanzania before embarking on digital media management roles.

Daniel Samson

Chief Learning Officer

Daniel Samson is an award-winning data journalist who specializes in business, environment, education and data reporting.

Mr. Daniel is currently in charge of research and learning at Nukta Africa where he manages all research activities and training on emerging journalism and communication practices. 

He holds a B. A in Journalism from the University of Dar es Salaam and has attended dozens of short courses on investigative and data journalism from various local and international institutions.

Apart from his research and learning leadership role, Mr. Daniel is a trainer and mentor in Data Journalism, Multimedia storytelling, Fact-checking and Environmental reporting. 



Mercy Masinga

Sales & Marketing Officer

Mercy Masinga is a Sales and Marketing Officer at Nukta Africa who has been a phenomenon in driving the company’s sales growth and improving customer care to our clients and partners.

Before joining Nukta Africa, Ms. Masinga worked at the Journalists’ Environmental Association of Tanzania(JET) as a Communications and Influence Manager.

She is a graduate of Public Relations and Marketing from Saint Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT), Mercy is a key player in maintaining a good relationship between clients and the company for all digital news outlets.

As a non-stop learner, Mercy has recently attained her Post-graduate Diploma in Management of Foreign Relations from The Center for Foreign Relations. 

In her free time,  she enjoys volunteering on projects that prioritise the needs of vulnerable groups.

Lucy Samson

Multimedia Journalist

Lucy Samson is a Multimedia journalist at Nukta Africa who specializes in health, food safety and security, environment and education reporting.

She is a talentedData Visualiser, and voice-over stories and she has been hosting the Mwanaume Jikoni show at Jiko Point owned by Nukta Africa. The show aims to promote inclusivity in clean cooking. 

Ms Samson who has previously worked with Rehoboth FM and Kcl Media as a producer and presenter, holds a B.A in Journalism from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Daudi Mbapani

Multimedia Producer

Daudi Mbapani is a Multimedia producer in charge of the company’s Visual content production mostly Video, Photography and Graphics designing. 

Mr Mbapani, who holds a B.A in Art and Design from the University of Dar es Salaam, his passion for art drives him to dedicate time working on Data analysis and visualization.

In his free time he paints, draws, motor sports and takes nature photos. 

Esau Ng'umbi

Editorial coordinator

Esau Ng’umbi is a Multimedia Journalist at Nukta Africa who specializes in data visualization, multimedia storytelling, documentary production, feature stories and voice-over artistry.

He is currently the Editorial coordinator, leading the company’s content production and editorial operations including managing Nukta Habari, Nukta TV and Jiko Point.

Esau, who holds a B.A in Mass Communication from St Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT), previously worked with several media organizations including Saut-FM Radio, Iqra FM Radio and Shamba FM Radio in Iringa, Southern Tanzania.

Christina Mbesse

Assistant Admin and finance officer

Christina Mbesse serves as the Assistant Admin and Finance Officer at Nukta Africa. With a background in accounting, she oversees the company’s financial operations while providing essential support to the administrative functions.

In her role, Christina is responsible for managing the company’s finances, including tasks related to accounts payable and receivable.

Ms. Mbesse obtained her Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS). Prior to her current position, she gained valuable experience as an Assistant Accountant and Administrative Officer at Risechamp Pre and Primary School.

Her educational background and professional experience have equipped her with a strong foundation in finance and administration, making her a valuable asset to the team.
