Boresha Habari: Media and civil society strengthening project (2018-2022)

Nukta Africa was an implementing partner of USAID’s Boresha Habari (“Better News”) activity which was supporting an open and inclusive environment in which media and civil society organizations provided accurate, ethical, and impartial information. The project aimed to strengthen public participation, social inclusion, and accountability by enhancing the capacity of journalists and media institutions in Tanzania. Under the Boresha Habari programme, Nukta Africa contributed to the design and delivery of capacity-building initiatives for journalists, editors and CSOs across Tanzania, with a strong focus on data-driven journalism, fact-checking, and multimedia storytelling.

Impact: Over 1,000 journalists and editors were trained nationwide, improving the quality of data-driven, fact-checked, and multimedia reporting. Many participants produced high-impact stories on critical public interest issues, and several went on to receive local and international journalism awards for their work.
