Nukta Africa, in partnership with Hivos under the Green and Inclusive Energy (GIE) Programme, implemented the Renewable Energy Journalism Fellowship (REJF) to strengthen renewable energy reporting in Tanzania. The fellowship targeted journalists and editors from local and national media and was delivered in two cohorts (2018–2019 and 2019–2020), with the second cohort implemented in collaboration with Journalists for the Environment (JET). Participants underwent six months of training, editorial mentorship, and field visits to renewable energy projects and companies across Tanzania, producing data-driven and impactful renewable energy stories.
Impact: Over 40 journalists and editors were trained, significantly improving the quality, depth, and visibility of renewable energy journalism in Tanzania and supporting informed public dialogue and advocacy for clean and inclusive energy systems. More than 200 in-depth and multimedia stories were published by local and national media reaching millions of people in Tanzania.
